Cristina Cataman

Bold, refreshingly honest and impossible to put in a box, Cristina is exactly the kind of woman we love at Women’s Fitness. After leaving corporate life, she carved out a career on social media by doing something deceptively simple: being herself. Blending wellness, beauty, fashion and humour with a distinctly unfiltered perspective, Cristina has built an audience that connects with her for far more than aesthetics. What we love most is her refusal to chase perfection — or take herself too seriously. Creative, entrepreneurial and unapologetically authentic, Cristina proves that sometimes the most powerful personal brand is simply being you.

Cristina, we love you and what you do! Tell us about how you started your journey on social media?
Thank you! I didn’t have a grand five-year plan. I started creating content simply because I enjoyed it, with little idea it could become a career.
Before social media, I worked in corporate life, but social media offered a space where I could blend my creativity, wellness, beauty, fashion and slightly unhinged Eastern European sense of humor into one place.
The biggest turning point was realizing that people connected most with authenticity rather than perfection. Once I stopped trying to fit the typical “influencer” mold and leaned into my true personality, everything changed. The internet is very good at detecting bullshit and people can feel when you’re performing.

Was it harder than you thought it would be?
Definitely! From the outside, social media looks like taking pretty pictures, traveling and going to events. In reality, you are the creative director, talent, strategist, editor, salesperson, marketing department, accountant and PR team all at once, especially before you can hire help.
The hardest part has been separating my self-worth from performance metrics. A bad month doesn’t mean you’ve lost your magic and a viral video doesn’t mean you’ve solved the universe. You just have to keep going through both.

What’s the key to success?
If I had to boil it down: be recognizable, be consistent and actually have something to say.
Aesthetics alone are no longer enough because millions of people create beautiful content. People need a reason to remember you. For me, that comes back to personality, I want people to recognize my humor, perspective and voice, not just my outfits or products.
You also must be willing to evolve. Your personal brand should be recognizable, but it should never become a cage. Above all, being unapologetically yourself makes you magnetic.

What advice would you give to others trying to grow?
First, stop trying to be liked by everyone. Build a strong audience by holding a clear point of view. Give people a reason to think, laugh, learn, or feel something.
Second, make a lot of content. You cannot overthink your way to excellence. Create, observe, learn, adjust and repeat.
Third, don’t confuse views with community. Virality is fun, but building an audience that actually cares about you is far more valuable.
Lastly, don’t wait until you feel ready. Your early videos will probably be terrible, mine certainly were! That isn’t a sign to quit; it’s an essential part of the process.

Anything else you’d like to share?
It’s exciting that we can build entire careers around who we are, but it’s also vulnerable. My biggest takeaway is that you don’t have to box yourself in. You can love fashion, wellness, business, music and travel all at once.

You are the niche.
The internet needs more people who show up authentically without taking themselves too seriously. I take my work seriously, but I don’t need to take myself seriously 24/7. Work hard, stay evolving and approach everything with humor. We get much farther in life when we remember to have fun!
