MORNING MANTRA: All challenges are an opportunity to be creative

Kristy… you’re on a mission to empower, educate and enhance the wellbeing of Australia (and beyond) with Kailo – Australia’s Leading Luxury Wellness brand. As co-founder and CEO, can you share why you started, and what you set out to achieve?
The inspiration behind KAILO stemmed from my business partner Kath and I both having a medical journey with our sons which led us to live in LA for an extended period to give our boys a more holistic approach. Throughout this experience we learned that healing the mind, body and spirit requires a variety of both medical and natural therapies. KAILO was born in 2018 with a goal to educate and empower our guests to take control of their own health. We have certainly achieved this through growing our offering in the Medi-spa and by hosting summits, launching the KAILO Transformation programme and KAILO Nutrition within Australia and internationally.
Business comes with challenges… what’s been your biggest hurdle to overcome, and how did you bounce back? COVID was certainly our biggest challenge as we were a very young, self-funded business, with not a lot of financial backing at the time.
This is a scenario where the commitment and dedication of your team really showcase what is possible. They did tele skin consults and we would ship products to our guests and follow up with showing them how to implement an at home facial and skin-regime. This allowed us to keep our audience engaged and revenue coming through which allowed us to maintain our incredible team whilst we worked our way through bouncing back.

You’ve partnered with some of the biggest brands in the world – Goop for example – how have you created such a powerful name for Kailo, especially in such a saturated market?
We have a deep ethos of integrity and authenticity and a passion to build communities internally in the business and externally through the incredible brands and practitioners we partner with. The KAILO team and the culture we have built are what we are most proud of, without them KAILO would not be where it is today. We stay true to the mission and always bring it back to purpose.

What advice can you share to others who want to start or scale their business?
Scaling a business is a risky game, accepting you will never know everything, and you are forever learning. Surround yourself with people who have done it before and be a sponge to listen and learn from the best. I also think setting a boundary on how much you are willing to put in by asking yourself, “how much are you financially willing to lose?” Most importantly, always stay on track with your purpose because when you are purpose led, you build communities and a loyal following.

What’s coming up for Kailo, and how can we connect deeper with you + the brand as a whole?
KAILO’s vision is to become globally recognized as the most trusted wellness brand that brings forth not only services and products, but also a deep commitment to education and empowerment – this was demonstrated at the KAILO 2025 Summit with goop.
KAILO Nutrition is growing heavily across the UAE with unique smoothie and baked goods concepts. We launched into Bloomingdale’s in March, and 23 Kration stores across LA in January. Next month, we will launch into Germany.
We are also building traction with our very own KAILO Transformation programme with celebrity mindset coach and trainer Jay Cardiello.
I am at my happiest when our clients and audience connect with myself and our amazing team and actively join in on the journey to create a purpose led community. When communities are created, the bigger mission becomes possible. KAILO is not just a space nor a product on the shelf, it is a movement growing a global collective.
