28GO

WF’s Paris Raine caught up with Sam and Snez at their home to discuss all things 28GO!

As an Exercise Scientist and qualified coach, Sam Wood has really championed “AT-HOME-FITNESS” through his online platform 28 by Sam Wood, the No.1 at-home fitness program used by over a million Aussies. However, over the last 10 years he has found that the most commonly asked questions from within his thriving community were for advice on the best protein powders and snacks on the market. With the realisation that there were no products available that he felt comfortable recommending, Sam decided to take matters into his own hands. Thus 28Go was born with the range designed to be an easy, effective way for the time-poor Australian to grab their protein needs and GO, with simple, trustworthy and flavourful options for every occasion. Now you can power your day with protein, YOUR way.

Q. What are the key things that we need to know about the importance of getting enough protein in our diet?
Protein is the number one macronutrient to consider when it comes to looking your best, feeling your best and performing at your best given that it provides the building blocks for gaining muscle, repairing tissue and recovering from stress. It’s also important from a sustainable weight loss point of view because it helps to regulate our appetite given that we feel more satisfied and full after eating it, and it requires more energy to digest than either carbs or fats.

Q. Do men need more protein than women?
One of the most common misconceptions is that men need more protein than women, which is just not the case. Across our lifespan, we need different amounts at different times BUT across the board we all have very similar needs. At the very least everyone should be aiming for 1g of protein per kg of bodyweight per day ie if you’re a 60kg female, you should be eating no less than 60g per day. These needs increase with age as protein is also important for a healthy immune system.

Q. We lead increasingly busy lives. How do these products make it easier for people to achieve their health and fitness goals on the run?
It’s not just about the amount of protein we’re eating but also the quality of that protein. What we tend to find is that Aussies are skipping out on good sources in their breakfast or lunch, and then just piling on the steak or chicken at night. While it’s great to meet your daily needs in one hit with your dinner, research tells us that it’s even more beneficial to break it up into smaller amounts spread throughout the day.
Lack of time is often given as one of the major reasons for eating poorly, and this is where a good quality supplement comes in handy. Whether you love a quick and easy breakfast in the form of a protein shake as you run out the door in the morning, the convenience of a protein bar as an easily accessible snack while travelling or you need to indulge your sweet tooth in a healthier way with a treat after dinner, 28GO is able to keep you on track to reach your goals.

28GO’s wide range of products also feature probiotics, collagen and super greens for added health benefits. Grab the 28GO range from Chemist Warehouse!
