Award-winning, Australian icon, Delta Goodrem has announced the release of her latest fragrance, Within, a bold, refined addition to her best-selling fragrance collection, available at Chemist Warehouse.
Building on the remarkable success of her eight previous launches, with a whopping 1 million units sold, Within marks a new chapter for the Delta Goodrem fragrance journey. Crafted as a true “pillar” fragrance, it’s designed to resonate with loyal fans while inviting a new generation of fragrance lovers to discover the soulful depth and emotional sophistication of Delta’s olfactive world.
The Australian icon sat down with our own Paris Raine to discuss the fragrance – a premium, luxe addition to her collection that marks a full-circle moment in her evolution as both an artist and a woman.
Delta, congratulations on your newest perfume launch of Within! When you reflect on your journey from your first fragrance to now, what does Within represent in your evolution as a woman and as an artist?
“I think so much changes every single year of our life. When I think about how this is now our eighth fragrance, I kind of feel like it’s a really beautiful sort of octave—like in music, it’s the eighth note. It’s a full circle moment. I think about how, from where we started to where we are now, this evolution of always finding the next level in life, and then also loving all the different paths we’ve been on. This one’s a real premium, luxe addition, where it’s just that little bit more elevated, and it has a beautiful richness to it. I’m excited for people to experience this fragrance.”
Eight fragrances and over a million bottles sold – it’s quite the milestone.
“It’s amazing. I love that people feel connected to it as a part of their life. Like my niece—she has the Power shimmer spray. It basically smells like Power everywhere, that’s her go-to. And my sister-in-law, we had her on the Christmas special this year, Christmas with Delta, as one of Sam’s helpers, and she came in spraying it everywhere. She was really proud. We felt connected through her love of that fragrance. It’s really cool to see how people take in the different products.”
You’ve built an incredible career and are celebrated as one of Australia’s most iconic storytellers, with music at the heart of it all. Do you find parallels between writing a song and creating a fragrance?
“Without a doubt. I think writing a song and creating a fragrance—I believe everything is relative. You can apply the same principles to all the different aspects of discipline and work. But in a more technical way, you can talk about the notes—the top notes, the middle notes, the base notes. I responded to that because it’s like making a song where we have things called stems. Here you have the drums, you have the bass, here you have the piano, you have the vocals. They all come together and make one. It’s the same with creating a fragrance—what is lasting at the top, what is the middle, what holds the base? You can play around with all the different scents until you find the right balance.”
I know a lot went into crafting this scent. Can you walk us through some of the notes of Within?
“Some of the fragrance notes are pear blossom, jasmine, musk, sandalwood, pink pepper, and bergamot. We wanted a lot of strength, but with an effortlessness to the fragrance. It has a rich quality to it.”
You’ve said Within celebrates a journey to one’s true form. What does that journey look like for you?
“When we talk about ‘a journey to one’s true form,’ I feel that’s a really profound way to describe it. Your life can go on all different trajectories, and when you come back to a center point and find a foundation again, it’s pretty amazing. I’m enjoying having so many different life stories and journeys that have brought me to this point. I’m really grateful for all those experiences—they’ve created who I am today. That gives me confidence because, whilst you’re always learning, I also feel like I have a lot of experiences under my belt.”
If Within could whisper one message to the person wearing it, what would it say?
“It would say, Stand up straight, shoulders back, walk with confidence, go out there and live every single moment to the fullest. With your true self being at the forefront.”
And lastly, if you could bottle up one word to describe this chapter of your life, what would it be?
“Well, Within, and I have spoken, and we feel it should be “empowered”.”
