What is breathwork exactly?
Breathwork is any technique that involves conscious breathing.
What does it help us do / feel / achieve?
So much – stress reduction, greater awareness, relaxation, increased energy, emotional release, better quality sleep…. The list goes on.
Where to begin?
Wherever you are in this moment, exhale – sink into comfort. Close your eyes and take your inner awareness (to the tip of your nose. Keeping the eyes closed, inhale slowly through the nose for 4 seconds, exhale slowly through the nose for 4 seconds. Continue breathing like this for 90 seconds, all nasal breathing. Congratulations, you just did breathwork!
Top tips for a newbie
- Slow breathwork is always a great option for beginners – just like the exercise above
- Don’t overcomplicate it – you’ve been breathing since birth! Tune into your breath, out of everything else, and you’ll find yourself in the zone.
- Take a expert-led breathwork workshop – even just a one day workshop (more if you can!) provides the foundations for success – and for you, that means greater calmness, clarity and bliss.
